Hello Everyone,

Here is a fun way to study Logic, Geo Terms exc.

Make a Board Game. You can play this game with your family members and study at the same time!

Materials-

Cardboard Box
Paper or Cardstock
Scissors
Markers
Pennies






Step 1. Cut your cardboard box down the middle, so you have a long strip of cardboard.

Step 2. Cut off both of the sides so you are left with just the middle peice.

                    It should look like this afterward.









 

 Step 3. Cut off the top flaps. Now you are left with a foldable peice of cardboard for your board game.



Here it is folded.




You can straighten crooked edges with scissors.

 

Step 4. Make a place on your board to draw the path on. Take your cardstock and arrange it on your board like this.

 Next cut the cardstock to fit.

 

And glue it to the board, with glue

Step 5. After the glue dries, draw the path for the game. You can make it windy or straight or how ever you want. I made mine in a spiral.

 Don't forget a start and end places!

 And leave a spot for cards.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 6. Make squares and color your path.

You can decorate it with colors, or number each square. 
Here's mine partly colored.

You can also add special squares which say "Move another 2 spaces if you land on this" or "Sorry move back 5 spaces"




Step 7. Make the cards.

 On your paper (or cardstock) make a large grid, big enough for each square to be a card, then stack two or three peices  of paper and cut along the grid, you should be left with a stack of cards to put in the spot beside your path.

 

On your cards put definitions, whether it be logic terms or geo terms, or even,if you have little brothers or sisters in foundations, history sentence questions. You can write the answer in tiny handwriting upside-down on the bottom. Then in a little box toward the bottom write how many spaces to move if you answer the question correctly.

 

You can also fold over the bottom edge so you don't see the answer on the bottom.

 You can decorate the back with markers or write the subject of which the card is referring to. If you are in Challenge B you can draw from the Logic pile, if you have a sibling in Challenge A, he/she can draw from the Geo Term Pile, and if you have siblings in Foundations, they can draw from the history sentence pile, that way everyone in your family can play.

 



Step 8. Make the pawns.

 

You need something to move around the board don't you? I made them out of pennies, but you could use other things also. Take your pennies and use them as a guideline to cut out a piece of circular paper to glue on top of the penny. Once you have your peices of paper, put glue on one side of the penny and set the paper on top of the glue.

Press together and allow to dry.

 

Once dry you can color them different colors for different players.

 

 

Once that's done you are ready to play!

 

After you are done playing, you can put it all in a ziplock, fold the cardboard, and put it away.

 

You can also decorate the back, with the name of the game, but we did nothing fancy.

Fun Facts about South America (Challenge A)

Here are some Fun Facts about your new continent, South America.

South America is the fourth largest continent. It covers an area of 6,885,000 square miles. The whole are takes up 12 percent of the Earth's land surface.

Half of the continent is covered in rain forest, the other half is mainly prairie grasslands.

The Amazon river is 4,000 miles long, the only river which is longer is the Nile river in Africa.

The Andes Mountains form the longest mountain chain in the world. It stretches more than 4,500 miles, along the west coast of South America.

The main tourist attraction of South America is Machu Picchu. More than 300,000 people climb to the site every year.

 The jaguar is the leading member of the Amazon wildlife, and is the largest wildcat living in the Americas.

The most popular sport in South America soccer.


Since 1968, Kourou, French Guiana has been the home of the rocket launching pad of the European Space Agency, because of it's spot by the equator.

The Challenge B class made examples of Linnaeus's Classification System. Some of the animals classified include penguins, grizzly bears, white-tailed deer, Indian peacocks, dolphins, colossal squid, and killer whales. Here's a picture of the posters.
